AEON Bank Enhances Customers’ Digital Banking Experience Through Advanced Shielding Technology
17 February 2025 | Kuala Lumpur

AEON Bank, Malaysia’s first Islamic digital bank has enhanced its security features by introducing the Mobile Security Platform (MSP), an advanced form of shielding technology for its mobile app. This is part of its ongoing commitment to improve the security of its digital banking app and safeguard customer data.
AEON Bank’s MSP continuously monitors potential threats and malware, taking proactive measures to safeguard the integrity of its digital banking app. If a device is detected as compromised — whether due to jailbreaking, rooting, library modification, runtime tampering, and any application modification from the original factory setting that bypasses security restrictions — the user will be notified and access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily disabled. This security measure is implemented to prevent data theft, security breaches and risk of unauthorised access.
"Protecting our customers is AEON Bank’s foremost priority as a fully digital bank. The Mobile Security Platform (MSP) shielding technology is crucial in providing a secure and trusted digital banking experience. We want our customers to use our app with confidence and peace of mind," said Chief Executive Officer of AEON Bank (M) Berhad, YM Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz.
Through this feature, AEON Bank does not collect, process, or store any personal information from customers' devices. The multi-layered approach enables the following protection:
- Threat Detection and Notification: If a device is detected as jailbroken or rooted, customers will receive an in-app security alert, and access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily disabled to prevent potential breaches.
- Guided Resolution: Customers can restore access by removing the detected security threats or adjusting their device settings. For enhanced security, resetting the device to factory settings is also recommended. Customers should back-up their phone’s data before doing so.
- Secure Re-access: Once the issue is resolved, users can relaunch or reinstall the AEON Bank app to resume secure banking services.
While AEON Bank rolls out the latest security technology to protect its customers, customers are encouraged to carry out the following actions:
- Reviewing app permissions regularly on your device.
- Monitoring data usage for any unusual increases or unexpected high phone bills.
- Frequently checking your account balance and statements—report any suspicious activity immediately to AEON Bank’s Customer Support.
AEON Bank remains committed in its mission to provide Malaysians with a secure, trusted and Shariah-compliant digital banking experience. For more information about AEON Bank’s shielding technology, visit AEON Bank’s website.
